Commenting on "Andrews 'demands' Huntingdale station action"

I would like to know the number of times the shuttle buses run each day. Using the given figure of "4800 people were using the 601 shuttle bus on any given day", the average is 80 people per one-way trip, which is almost double the bus passenger capacity. However, if a bus is to run 4 times one-way trip, the average is down to 20 per bus. So where is the problem?
Spare a thought for those who live in suburbs far from the university and have to take three buses or change trains two or three times.
Melbourne's transport system will always present a problem for many reasons. Over concentration and emphasis of CBD development result in a radial train system, and sparse population residing in outer suburbs with insufficient employment opportunities and education facilities.
We live in a world of compromise. Things can only get cheaper if there is economy of scale - that applies to public utility and public transport.
